Studio B: A Creative Space for Artists

The art scene is thriving around Third & Valley and we’d like to introduce you to Studio B, a local institution that supports local artists from both South Orange and Maplewood. They work with visual artists, writers, dancers, photographers, filmmakers and musicians to help showcase their work.  Studio B’s goal is to give artists a place where they can feel creative and launch new work.  It helps people network within the community and gives local artists a chance to create new connections.

The next Studio B event is “The Speakeasy Series” which will be held January 30th from 8pm -11pm.  Tickets are on sale now and the series will take place at The Woodland, 60 Woodland Ave, in Maplewood.

Every three months they host a Story Slam which is open to ALL story tellers. If you have a few stories to make the community laugh, cry or just smile…get your pen and paper out and head on over! Check out their podcast as well which is on their website.

At the moment they are looking for volunteers and sponsors and also have space available for artists.

Studio B is a non-profit organization. It was started by Marcy Thompson and Jenny Turner Hall.  Marcy has been producing theatrical events for the past 10 years in both Brooklyn and New Jersey.  Jenny Turner Hall worked in the NYC film business for 10 years as well.  She’s been a member of many well-known theaters such as Joe’s Pub, Collective Unconscious, HERE and Tonic.
