Father’s Day in South Orange

This Father’s Day treat your family to something special.  South Orange is a vibrant neighborhood filled with parks and restaurants making it easy to something to do this June 19th.  We put together a list of fun activities you can find right in the area, perfect for Father’s Day.

The South Mountain Reservation is a perfect place to start your Sunday morning.  You can bring a picnic to the pavilion and rent a swan paddle boat if it’s a nice day.  Don’t forget your sunscreen! If boats aren’t your cup of tea, take a nice stroll around the pond.  The serene and beautiful scenery have made this park a New Jersey favorite.

Safari mini golf is now open on Saturdays and Sundays at the Turtle Back Zoo.  Experience a taste of Africa as you putt around life size animals, palm trees and waterfalls. Once you work up an appetite you can sit on the McLoone’s Boat House patio which has flat screen TV’s and comfortable furniture.  Treat yourself to their brunch buffet which includes a raw bar, assorted fruit, omelet station and much more.

If you think Dad would prefer an adult game of golf better, the Essex County Francis Byrne Golf Course dates back to 1926 and is newly renovated. Many of the course features have been restored to their classic roots, making Byrne one of the premiere public golf destinations in the state. For $50 you can have dad golf on a Saturday or Sunday.  Check their website for more details.
